The best way is to soak the corn for at least an hour, then pull back the husk (leaving it attached to the bottom), clean off the stringy stuff underneath, put the husk back to original and grill over indirect heat (not directly over the coals) for 30-45 minutes. You can also wrap in aluminum foil and do the same.
Peel back 80% of the husk leaving a few thin layers covering the corn. (If you leave it all on, you will have no browning of the corn).
Soak corn for 1/2 hour in water
Put on hot grill for about 20 minutes turning frequently. The outside husk will brown and/or blacken but the corn will be slightly browned (mostly yellow).
Pull back the husks to remove the stringy silks that cover the corn. Re-cover the corn by pulling the husks back in to place. Soak in cold water for about 20 mins. Place on a mediumh ot grill until slightly charred but not burned. Top with butter or cayenne pepper or hot sauce with lemon juice and a little salt enjoy!
i would have to agree with the soaking if you are going to leave the husk on. but when i grill i always take the husk off and grill the corn until golden brown with a little bit of char marks on them. there is so much flavor this way. you will love it
soak the hole corn cob in ice water for best results, and keep rotating it on the flame, let the husk blacken and burn, you will know when this is done by poking it with a fork or your finger

I wrap it in foil while in the husk, and let it go, when I do it that way.
Soak it, then just throw it on the grill
I cook in the husk for 20 to 30 minutes.
soak the whole thing first!
