We plan up to 60 pounds of chicken barbecue and I need to know how much coal to keep on hand. The grid measures 5X2.
Thank you.

You can buy Kingsford Charcoal in twin packs at Costco which I think are big bags. You’ll also find twin packs at Wal-Mart, but I think they’re slight smaller bags.
I’m thinking you need at least 2 twin packs (4 bags total around 20 lbs each).
My thinking is you’ll need a bag maybe a bag + 1/2 for the grill and you should get enough heat for about an hour if you don’t replenish so with 4 bags you have about 3.5 to 4 hours of useable heat.
I’m also assuming you don’t have a lid for your grill.
yea if you want the BEST Flavor do not use regular charcoal!!!
You want to use CowBoy Charcoal, that is ALL me and my hubby use. Its hardwood chips, oak hickory, maple…. It adds soo much more flavor to meats. And for that big of a grill you want to use a 20 lb bag! you can find CB Charcoal at menards or ACE hardware!
